Omar A. Altaji

Omar Altaji is managing director of worldwide carrier services at Global Crossing. In this capacity, Mr. Altaji provides overall leadership and strategic direction for the voice, data, and infrastructure services business globally.
Mr. Altaji joined Global Crossing in 2000 as vice president, responsible for Latin America and Caribbean region carrier sales in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. His role then expanded to include the entire Latin America and Caribbean region as senior vice president of carrier services, managing and overseeing all aspects of sales, marketing, and business development.
In his next assignment, Mr. Altaji led the effort to develop a strategic initiative and a new line of business focused on outsourcing, which resulted in the creation of Global Crossing's Global Partner Program (GPP). GPP has grown into a thriving business and an industry-leading program critical to the company's goal of maximizing opportunities for offering seamless IP-based global solutions in the enterprise market.
Mr. Altaji has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry across numerous functional areas that include research and development, product management and marketing, business development, technology planning and sales, and executive management.
Prior to joining Global Crossing, he held leadership positions with Lucent Technologies and AT&T where he dealt with customers in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Mr. Altaji is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago.
