Securing Your Network: Defense in Depth.

Security, including confidentiality, availability and integrity of data, is a key requirement expected of a global telecommunications leader like Global Crossing. Our customers rely on us because we have turned our best-in-class security processes into a factor that has helped our customers succeed.

Global Crossing utilizes multiple, independent and interlinking layers of security to provide greater protection than each of the controls provide individually. This security method is known as a "defense-in-depth" strategy. We also leverage the many standards and best practices collaboratively created by thought leaders in the US Government and in industry alliances. For example, we are strong believers in the prioritizations and principles outlined in the recently released Consensus Audit Guidelines. We view the CAG as foundational activities important to any defense-in-depth strategy.

Securing the enterprise is complicated. It requires an overall security strategy including network security, physical security, personnel security, and information assurance.

Global Crossing shares our lessons learned in our internal establishment of a secure enterprise. While the implementation of the technology will vary, the underlying principles remain consistent.
