Getting the most out of the WAN
Global Crossing's WAN Optimization service allows customers to get the most out of their WAN and improve productivity in their business. A fully managed solution, WAN Optimization is available as an addition to the Managed Global Crossing IP VPN Service™.
While it is required that the customer be using the Global Crossing managed service to get this product, they do not have to be using Juniper CPE devices. The WAN Optimization solution can be added to any network that is managed by Global Crossing.
WAN Optimization adds value for customers by reducing latency, improving end-user experience, centralizing applications and saves money by avoiding expensive WAN upgrades. Next-generation compression technology selects what to compress and what to keep whole, allowing for the more important data to get priority. The different ports and model choices provide a level of customization and flexibility that allows the customer to get a solution that is tailor-made for them.
Global Crossing's fully managed WAN Optimization service will increase application performance by increasing WAN capacity in a more cost-efficient and effective method. It utilizes Molecular Sequence Reduction (MSR) technology to provide not only next-generation compression, but decreased latency as well. It does this by employing several TCP acceleration techniques and Application Flow Acceleration which result in vast improvements. End-user experience over the WAN is greatly improved. Voice and Video files are never compressed or cached, but the MSR technology frees up more space to allow them to remain intact and is assigned the higher priority over the port.
Global Crossing is utilizing Juniper's award winning WXC platform. Their platform received the "Product of the Year 2008" award by more than 4000 readers from Network Computing. Juniper is an industry leader in the WAN optimization space and their platform provides features unique to the space. There will be three different model offerings to choose from. The models; WXC1800, WXC2600 and WXC3400 go from smaller to larger storage space, throughput speed and number of GigE and Ethernet ports on-board.
