Global Crossing Enables Distance Learning, Peer Networking for Polycom User Group
Florham Park, NJ - June 16, 2005 -- Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC) is providing the Polycom User Group (PUG), a non-profit professional organization that encourages communication among users of Polycom® Inc. products and services, with audio, video and Web conferencing services to facilitate distance learning and networking for the PUG community.
"We're dedicated to advancing educational and networking opportunities for our members," said Cathy Boswick, vice president of the Polycom User Group. "Our experience with Global Crossing's comprehensive videoconferencing service, which we've used for the past four years for board meetings, led us to partner with Global Crossing to supply us with audio, video and web conferencing to help all our members share their knowledge and experiences."
Global Crossing's audio, video and Web conferencing will facilitate PUG's "Brown Bag" educational seminar series, through which PUG members gain insight about conferencing and collaboration trends from luminaries in the business and conferencing world. PUG constituents, whether working at their place of business, a satellite office, home, or on the road, can easily join these educational seminars via videoconferencing through the public Internet or their traditional ISDN connection, or by Global Crossing's Ready-Access® audio conferencing service. They can also follow a Web presentation by joining Ready-Access® Web Meeting, Global Crossing's integrated audio and Web conferencing service. Participants unable to attend these educational sessions can access an archived recording, which synchronizes the Web presentation with the audio.
"As a member of the Polycom User Group Community, I experience first hand the value that PUG brings to conferencing users," said Neil Barua, global vice president of enterprise & collaboration services for Global Crossing. "Global Crossing is honored to donate conferencing services to this global organization, helping PUG members exchange ideas that will help the conferencing industry flourish."
The first "Brown Bag" seminar session was held on April 1 and forthcoming events are slated for June 17, September 9 and December 9.
Global Crossing delivers highly secure network environments to its customers through a comprehensive set of policies and initiatives. The company has signed a precedent-setting Network Security Agreement with the U.S. government, and is also cleared to handle sensitive government traffic for the UK.
