- Strategic partnership offers customers complete turnkey communications solutions.
- Companies gain new customer contract for global, multi-site IP VPN.
London - October 25, 2005 -- Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC) announced today that its relationship with network integrator Dimension Data continues to expand with the recent signing of a global, multi-site IP VPN for HIFX, a leading financial markets firm.
The partnership between Global Crossing and Dimension Data, originally formed in 2003, combines the service capability and reach of Global Crossing's MPLS-based IP network with Dimension Data's expertise in contact centers, application integration and managed services, creating turnkey customer solutions. The partnership offers both companies the opportunity to provide customers with value-added services globally.
"The new contract with HIFX demonstrates that our partnership with Dimension Data -- in particular, our focus on leveraging our respective competencies -- is exactly what our customers expect from their solutions providers," said Paul O'Brien, Global Crossing's executive vice president of enterprise and collaboration services.
Under the terms of the partnership, Global Crossing is a preferred network service provider for Dimension Data. This allows Dimension Data to offer converged IP services to its customers, utilizing Global Crossing's footprint in more than 500 cities in 50 countries on six continents and its feature-rich IP VPN, VoIP and collaboration services. With preferred provider status, Global Crossing and Dimension Data have been collaborating to develop and implement comprehensive solutions and are interfacing with customers through coordinated sales efforts.
"Working with Global Crossing has allowed us to effectively target global customers such as HIFX looking for integrated IP networking and application solutions," said Russell Bolan, chief executive officer, Dimension Data in the UK. "Global Crossing's experience operating an integrated voice, video and data service platform over an MPLS network backbone complements Dimension Data's expertise in networking, application integration and managed services, enabling us to provide an unrivalled service to our customers around the globe."
Global Crossing will provide a five-site private MPLS-based IP VPN to HIFX, connecting global operations in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia and the United States.
"Solutions-oriented partnerships between service providers and integrators are vital to enterprises seeking to adopt convergence," stated Bryan Van Dussen, research director for service provider markets and business segmentation at In-Stat. "Today's announcement is evidence that Global Crossing is executing on its partnership strategy, enabling the company to augment its value-added service capability with global LAN and CPE management to establish a stronger position in the enterprise market for end-to-end IP solutions."
Available in more than 500 cities in 50 countries, Global Crossing provides one of the highest performance and most versatile IP VPN solutions currently in place, with true global reach, scalable connectivity, multiple access options and flexible billing options. The solution supports the convergence of corporate data, voice, IP video and Internet access, all over a single connection.
