Global Crossing Adds Industry-leading Performance Guarantees and Real-Time Metrics to Standard IP VPN Offer
Service Now Includes Network Integrity for Simplified Monitoring, Enhanced Visibility and Reporting, End-to-end SLAs, and Faster Trouble Resolution
Florham Park, N.J. - March 5, 2007 -- Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC), a leading global IP solutions provider, today announced it has transformed its standard IP VPN solution into an industry-leading offer by incorporating Network Integrity, a suite of sophisticated capabilities that significantly simplifies network monitoring and control for enterprise customers.
By integrating Network Integrity into its standard IP VPN service, Global Crossing has removed the complexities of network monitoring, providing enterprise network managers with a comprehensive and meaningful view of network performance. As a result, Global Crossing's standard IP VPN now provides enterprises with premises-to-premises performance guarantees, or Service Level Agreements (SLAs), for packet delivery and latency - capabilities not included in competitors' standard IP VPN offers.
Global Crossing IP VPN Service™ connects an enterprise's worldwide locations into a single, protected corporate network with true global reach, scalable connectivity, greater security, multiple access options, a broad range of IP communication services, and guaranteed quality of service (QoS). The standard IP VPN offer allows enterprises to monitor key performance metrics - in real-time - across their networks via Global Crossing's uCommand® portal. Monthly site-to-site performance reports by the customer's Classes of Service (CoS) are provided as assurance that Global Crossing stands behind, and is compliant with, its performance guarantees. In addition, the standard IP VPN offer alerts users when network performance is affected, providing an immediate proactive notification for their network.
"Global Crossing is once again leading the industry with innovative solutions that provide meaningful capabilities to our enterprise customers," said Anthony Christie, chief marketing officer. "Our emphasis on providing our enterprise customers differentiated technology, security, support and control helps their businesses reach new levels as we continually raise the bar on the solutions we offer them. In this instance, our customers told us they want to control IP VPN performance as they increasingly rely on a single IP-based platform for real-time and converged applications."
"Global Crossing's innovation in performance management integrated into its industry-leading IP VPN service addresses an increasingly critical need for enterprises around enhanced network visibility, control and business continuity solutions," said Courtney Munroe, vice president at IDC for business services. "The introduction of industry-leading end-to-end SLAs with Global Crossing IP VPN Service guarantees network performance more comprehensively."
The company's new standard IP VPN service gives enterprise network managers second-by-second visibility into key network performance indicators. It includes proactive notification of significant network events. Armed with these tools, customers can proactively resolve network performance issues before they are perceived by end users, and before trouble tickets are generated. For any trouble tickets submitted, ready access to information leads to faster resolution times and fewer escalations to Global Crossing.
If a trouble ticket is escalated to Global Crossing, engineers in the company's state-of-the-art Network Operations Center (NOC) have the same visibility into the network as the customer - plus advanced troubleshooting capabilities - to expedite resolutions. For customers who have also chosen Global Crossing Managed Network Services, Global Crossing NOC personnel can resolve a network performance issue before the customer even becomes aware of it. By reducing the number of submitted trouble tickets by an average 25 percent and expediting the resolution of the remainder, enterprises can realize tremendous, tangible savings in both time and money.
The integration of Network Integrity into Global Crossing's standard IP VPN Service also enables enterprises to upgrade their service seamlessly to monitor specific applications with two premium performance management options: Applications Integrity and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Integrity. Applications Integrity enables network managers to distinguish easily between network-based and application-specific issues, significantly reducing troubleshooting response time. VoIP Integrity includes all elements of Applications Integrity and also provides per-call Mean Opinion Scores (MOS) to report on VoIP call quality as it is perceived by the human ear.
