Global Crossing Donates Latin American Art Books

Buenos Aires, Argentina, November 13, 2007 – Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC), a leading provider of IP solutions, announced today that it has recently donated more than 6,000 art books to several art institutions, centers and associations in Latin America. The books, which include art and poetry of different countries in the region, were given to the Centro de Jubilados y Pensionados de Ingeniero Maschwitz, the Asociación de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil de Argentina (ALIJA) and the Centro de Arte y Educación Pepe Cáceres, among others.

The books are part of an art collection first started in 1992 by Impsat, which was purchased by Global Crossing earlier this year. The collection was created as a gift for customers, and the company has continued compiling collections of quality artwork in a different book every year.

"With this donation, we aim to open our collection to children and adults who otherwise cannot access this kind of material," commented Paula Vivo, regional director of communications and editor in charge of the last five editions of the collection. "We believe that this year's book offers a range of interesting material that will be well received in the community."

Globally recognized writers and painters from Latin America, such as Hermenegildo Sabat, Luis Felipe Noé, Pablo Neruda, Raúl Soldi, Sor Juana de la Cruz, Jorge Marín, Pedro León Zapata, Gustavo Zalamea, Sirón Franco, Ferreira Gullar, Ricardo Cinalli, Alberto Thormann, Carlos Revilla and Carlos Rosero, have participated in this exclusive art collection. In 2003,a special edition included paintings by schoolchildren from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. This year's book features the work of the well known Chilean artist Gonzalo Cienfuegos.

Among the institutions that received these books is the Asociación de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil de Argentina (ALIJA), a non-profit civil association, whose purpose is to research, analyze and distribute children's and youngsters' books of exceptional quality, and to encourage reading. ALIJA was organized in 1985 to bring together writers, illustrators, narrators, specialists, editors, librarians, teachers and other people interested in the field of children's books.

Centro de Arte y Educación Pepe Cáceres also received the collection. The organization provides education in the areas of drama, visual arts, poetry, composition, science and technology, in addition to organizing periodical individual and collective expositions in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain, France, Germany and Russia.

"Our objective has always been to promote and encourage reading among children and youngsters in Argentina, so we believe that Global Crossing's support through this initiative is essential for the accomplishment of our objective. These books will be part of our library so that they can be used by anyone," commented Susana Itzcovich, president of ALIJA.

"We're very grateful for this donation as a way to extend our center to youngsters and students of art throughout the country," added Pepe Cáceres, director of the Centro de Arte y Educación Pepe Cáceres.
