Osborne Clarke Implements Global Crossing Network to Improve Connectivity and Collaboration
IP VPN delivers secure networking with global presence for future expansion
London - November 28, 2008 -- Osborne Clarke, one of Europe's most respected and dynamic law firms, has implemented a five-site Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) across the UK and Germany provided by leading global IP solutions provider Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC).
The IP VPN has been designed to improve data and site connectivity across Osborne Clarke's European operation and to provide greater bandwidth, enabling better document management and the use of collaboration services.
"In replacing an essentially hybrid system, we needed a single global provider able to offer a fully resilient, 'one connection, any service' platform, integrating voice, data and video," said Osborne Clarke's head of infrastructure and technology, Nathan Hayes.
"In response, the Global Crossing solution now offers us a cost-effective and scalable solution, with the flexibility over time to add other next-generation applications over the IP network," he added. "Equally, its established global presence ensures that Global Crossing will meet our future expansion needs should we look to open other offices."
Anthony Christie, managing director, EMEA, Global Crossing, said: "We have a proven track record for delivering fast, effective, centrally controlled applications to customers who work with highly sensitive data. As a result, Osborne Clarke can conduct its business in a seamless and efficient environment using our IP VPN and other future capabilities."
Better network performance
The new solution is now in place in Osborne Clarke's offices in Germany and the UK. "As a result, Global Crossing's sophisticated reporting tools already have led to a significant improvement in network performance," says Hayes.
For Osborne Clarke, the ability to move from a distributed to a centralised network model enables the company to more easily replicate data and take advantage of a more resilient network and robust data services. The new Global Crossing network also has reduced the cost of managing network equipment and offers improved reliability and fault tolerance within the single central data centre.
"In turn, in underpinning our trusted advisor strategy in this way," said Hayes, "Global Crossing delivers essential operational advantage by providing the systems and tools we need for Osborne Clarke to understand its customers better and to deliver a consistently high quality of service."
