Global Crossing to Enable IP Services for HMRC

By Jan Harris
VoIP News

Global Crossing is providing hosted IP telephony services to HMRC's operations across the UK, replacing an existing legacy telephony network.

Global Crossing's service will support over 85,000 users, and will be facilitated through a contract with OGCbuying.solutions, part of the Treasury's Office of Government Commerce. OGCbuying.solutions provides professional procurement service to the public sector.

The service is part of HMRC's development of a pan-government, secure platform. HMRC workers across the UK will migrate to the platform, which will provide secure, hosted IP telephony, managed voice and data networking, and mobile working services.

Global Crossing offers telecommunications services through what is believed to be the world's first integrated global IP-based network. It connects more than 390 cities in 30 countries across the world.
